Flooring Contractor Serving Andrews, NC & the Andrews Valley
Flooring, Tile, Hardwood Refinishing & Bathroom Remodels for Cherokee County Homes — From the Valley Floor to the Nantahala Ridges
A Flooring Crew That Knows Andrews Homes
Andrews is different from the resort-and-rental towns around it. Sitting on a broad valley floor along the Valley River, between the Snowbird and Tusquitee ranges with the Nantahala National Forest at its back, Andrews is primarily a town of full-time residents — families in homes their parents built, retirees who moved down from colder states, and folks working in Cherokee County who wanted more land and a quieter road. O-T Tile & Flooring LLC works here regularly, and the projects reflect that: real houses getting real improvements, not turnover paint for a rental calendar.
What that means practically is a lot of older housing stock. Homes around the valley and off Main Street were often built decades ago on crawl spaces or early slabs, with solid oak or heart pine floors that got carpeted over sometime in the 1970s. Half our Andrews estimates end with us pulling back a carpet corner in a closet and telling the homeowner they already own the nicest floor in the neighborhood — it just needs sanding and finishing. The other half need new flooring that can live with a low, damp valley crawl space, which points to waterproof plank and porcelain tile rather than solid wood.
We also do a steady amount of aging-in-place bathroom work in Andrews — stepping out of a tub gets harder every year, and converting that tub to a curbless tile shower with a bench, a niche, and blocking for grab bars is the single best remodel dollar an older Cherokee County home can spend. It looks like a luxury upgrade and it lets people stay in the house they love.
We're based in Blairsville, GA, about an hour out through Murphy, and there's no travel charge for Andrews work. Request your free estimate or call 706-970-1278 — we're open 7 days a week.

Andrews has a lot of mid-century and older valley homes with original oak and pine hidden under carpet. We pull the carpet, evaluate what's underneath, and sand and refinish it — usually for far less than replacing it. New solid and engineered hardwood too.

Porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone for Andrews bathrooms, kitchen floors, mudrooms, and custom walk-in showers. Large-format tile in a valley home with a settled subfloor takes prep most installers skip — we don't.

Valley Floor, Older Houses, Real Moisture — Why Andrews Needs a Careful Installer
Andrews sits low. The town spreads across one of the widest valley floors in Western North Carolina, and low ground next to a river behaves differently than a ridge lot. Crawl spaces here hold humidity longer, older slabs were often poured with no vapor barrier under them at all, and morning fog settles into the valley and sits. None of that stops you from having beautiful floors — it just means the moisture question has to be answered before the material question, not after.
So in Andrews we test first. Moisture meter in the subfloor, calcium chloride or meter readings on slabs, a look at the crawl space vents and ground cover. From there the recommendation follows the reading: waterproof rigid-core plank or porcelain tile where numbers are high, engineered hardwood where the space is conditioned and dry, and a vapor barrier or underlayment spec that matches what we actually found under the house instead of a generic one.
The older houses bring a second set of details. Settled floors that need flattening before large-format tile will sit flat. Doorways that have shifted enough that a threshold needs custom scribing. Original baseboard and trim worth removing carefully and reinstalling instead of replacing with big-box stock. Heart pine that has to be sanded with a light hand because there's only so much wood left above the tongue. This is slower work than a new subdivision floor, and it's most of what we do here.
Out past town toward Marble, Topton, and the Nantahala side, the properties get more rural and more remote — steep drives, cabins, and homes where a crew showing up prepared matters because the nearest supply house is a long way back. We plan material, tools, and extras for a full day on site so a missing box of trim doesn't cost you a day of progress.

Why Andrews Homeowners Call O-T
We're a locally owned, licensed and insured family business — not a franchise, and not a company that sends a salesman out and a stranger back. You meet the person who measures your house and the same crew finishes it. Estimates are free and itemized in writing, we're open 7 days a week, and we charge Andrews the same as we charge our home county.
We also take 10% off every project for veterans and active military.
About Andrews & Eastern Cherokee County
Andrews is a small town in eastern Cherokee County, North Carolina, laid out along the Valley River between the Snowbird Mountains and the Nantahala range, with the Nantahala National Forest wrapping around it. It grew up as a railroad and timber town, and that history still shows in the street grid, the older commercial buildings along Main Street, and the solidly built houses on the surrounding blocks. Today it's a quiet, close community with a regional airport, easy access to the Nantahala Gorge, and some of the best mountain views in Western NC from the roads above town.
For homeowners, the market here is mostly long-term: primary residences, family homes changing hands within the county, and retirees buying into a slower pace. That's why refinishing, room-by-room updating, and bathroom accessibility work outnumber the fast cosmetic flips we see in the rental towns. People here are improving houses they intend to keep, and the work should be done to that standard.
We're glad to be part of it — and we treat every Andrews project like it needs to still look right in twenty years, because it does.
